The sound quality is a little poor since it was taken on a mobile phone, however it captures this energetic peformance of Wreckers - Enjoy!

The original demo had been a song called The Endless and it had been written in the same clutch of material as Blight, Scarecrow and Legion. We originally decided not to record it on the Legion album because the vibe didn't really match the darker, more brooding tone of the rest of the album. As such the demo got shelved and picked at for decent ideas, like a useful riff corpse to be pulled apart as needed. The chorus and a large chunk of the midsection were recycled into what eventually was called Many Have Fallen. The working title of the song was "Lightbearers" because the demo had rather major qualities and a traditional metal vibe. This was later changed to "The Last Charge of The Death Knights" after too many studio beers! The title Many Have Fallen actually comes from a phrase ex-Kaleb member Matt used to use on nights out when people had gotten too hammered and had fallen by the wayside. The epic connotations of this made the phrase memorable to me. It was even mooted as a potential title for the Legion album. It lent itself naturally to a chorus lyric and shaped the story of the song, a final charge of an old order of Knights whose culture is dedicated to war. Musically the song came to the studio almost entirely whole but the beginning was lacking a hook. Tristan had long been playing around with the lick that now begins the song since the days when he was first learning the guitar. It really fit well and gave the song what it needed. I think this song is defined by its lead work, there are loads of licks that give layers of hooks to the song. The solo that Tris put down is my favourite on the entire Dethonator album, really lyrical in an Adrian Smith fashion. I also love playing the mid-section and just windmilling the living daylights out of the tremelo section. This was inspired by Amon Amarth, but didn't end up sounding too much like them for some reason. The ending of the song takes the mood of the song to a momentary darker place. After all the gung ho, death and glory rhetoric, the reality of the death and ruin occurring sets in as it is apparent that this grand charge is doomed. Adz
